Benefits of an Email Newsletter
Now the benefit’s I’m going to list are based on if you have a nicely designed newsletter that includes good content. If you send out ugly newsletter’s that are just crammed with ad’s you may not receive these benefits. I think email newsletters:
Prove that you are for real in the online world, much like brochure’s prove your for real in the real world
They give me a temporary boost in website hit’s immediately. (About 15%)
Oddly enough people keep them and continue to access your site through them for normally a month, at least with mine?
They help people find the most important information on my rather large site.
By tracking what people click on in the newsletter, I get feedback on what is of interest to the general audience
People like them, if they are nicely designed. So, they forward them to their friends, which equals more subscriber’s
Your subscription base will grow on it’s own. In 4 months I have grown from zero to almost 400 subscriber’s, without spamming people.
General Tips on Email Newsletter’s
Follow the layout example’s I provide below. These are the best email newsletter’s out there right now.
Never ever spam people you don’t know. You’ll just get banned by all the email newsletter service’s.
Dish out great content that people will find useful
Keep your advertising in your right sidebar and keep it short.
If you are sending an ad, keep it short and make the photo’s look beautiful or eye catching. Use Old Navy & Harrod’s as a guide.
Only send out a newsletter every other week, in the beginning. Never send one out more than once a week!
Track what people are clicking on and serve up more information on those subjects.
Use the newsletter as a guide to all of your great new stuff online. You want to get them to see value in your website.
I prefer MailChimp over all the other Email Newsletter System’s. Yes, including Constant Contact!

Here are the Best Email Newsletter Marketing Example’s
Hi, this video is great but I was wondering is there a free tool similar to MailChimp which will allow me target a larger audience base.
I have recently set up a company and have approx. 500,000 users I have previously worked with and wish to send them all an email newsletter introducing the new company.
Thanks Derek for your videos, I enjoy them a lot. IS there a way to actually have more power to create the look of the newsletter in Mail Chimp? To make them look more like the examples that you included instead of using the templates?
Also what if I have 3000 subscribers and I send 500 emails for 6 days? will that be ok for MailChimp?
You’re very welcome 🙂 You can put any HTML that you’d like in the messages. I try to stick to what they use though to get through the spam filters. Here is the link to pricing info http://mailchimp.com/pricing/
Hi Melanie,
This information on MailChimp was great. I may look into it for my Power Lunch blast each month. Thanks!

Your help would be greatly appreciated, James.
Sorry I don’t know of any free service that is comparable to MailChimp
