In this tutorial series I’ll show you how to make a WordPress Newspaper Theme.
This Newspaper Theme has all the bells and whistles. It can display 15 featured content articles. It allows you to display articles based off of categories. A lightbox will allow you to display videos or galleries dynamically. And, a whole bunch more.
Before you try to understand this please check out my video on how to make WordPress themes from scratch WordPress How To. Otherwise you may be confused.
Charlie wrote and asked for me to make a slideshow or gallery from scratch. So, today I will show you how to make a slide show.
All of the HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery code required will be provided and explained. Here is the code in a zipped archive JQuery Slideshow Code.
First, I’ll go over all of the HTML and CSS. Then in the next part of the tutorial I’ll cover all of the JavaScript and JQuery required.
I continue to show you how to make a Content Gallery in this tutorial. I’ll focus on how to allow for multiple blocks of content in this tutorial and how to set up arrows to cycle through that content.
This tutorial was ment to originally create a WordPress specific Featured Content, but now it will work on any type of site.

Here I continue to add a bunch of features to my Featured Content Slider. Along the way I’ll also show you how to do many neat things with JQuery.
I started by focusing on a WordPress Featured Content Plugin, but then decided to make a tool that would work on any website with Featured Content Gallery pt 2.

In this video tutorial I’ll show you how to make a WordPress Featured Content Plugin. The design is based off of one Phil sent into me.
The featured content plugin will however be designed so simply that anyone should be able to easily style it however they like.
In this part of the tutorial I’ll specifically cover the html and cascading style sheet code that is required.

The only two capabilities I left out in those tutorials is how to add shortcode capabilities and an uninstall script. In this tutorial I’ll cover that code.
In this WordPress video tutorial, I’ll show you how to create Shortcodes in WordPress.
A Shortcode is a WordPress specific way to add cool functionality with little to no effort. In this tutorial I’ll create a Shortcode function that will automatically jump out to any RSS feed and grab as many articles titles as you want.
So, if you want to display the top five articles on the New York Times website you can just type in the following: [nttfeedme blog_title=”New York Times” feed=”http://feeds.nytimes.com/nyt/rss/HomePage” num=”5″]

I’ve received numerous requests to walk you all through the process of creating custom menus using WordPress 3.0’s wp_nav_menu. So, here I’ll describe everything you need to know. It is actually very easy to create a horizontal wp nav menu.
I’m going to ignore some of the options for the wp_nav_menu on purpose just so that you are not confused. If you want you can simply copy a paste the code below and everything will work in fact.
