I’m not putting myself out there as a twitter expert, hence all of the work I did for you here is free. I was challenged on May 8th to figure out how to add 1000 Twitter follower’s in one week. Here I’ll show you how to get Twitter follower’s as well.
I was handicapped quite a lot:
- I had to use an account that had less than ten current follower’s
- I couldn’t give away an iPad or anything of value
- I couldn’t use my website to ask people to sign up for Twitter. (I could however provide a simple link to my Twitter page.)
- I couldn’t promote my Twitter account on my 80 You Tube video’s
- I basically had to get the follower’s in the same way a person would that didn’t have a high traffic website, or any other high traffic outlets.
When I’m posed with a challenge I sit down and think of what I can do and I found a solution within 5 minutes. Look for a list of people that already follow a large number of people. Believing that if they already follow say 30,000 people, that would mean they follow whoever follows them. Secondly, figure out an easy way to follow them. I couldn’t find this second tool, so I’m actually going to give it to you tomorrow. It will help you even though I never got to use it on my quest. It will also be free by the way, just like all my information.
So, I began following people on the list that I generated. I have followed no where near the full top thousand follower’s. The list is below by the way.
I have to warn you a bit. This list may contain:
- People that market themselves heavily
- People whom don’t speak your native language
- People who may swear
If your alright with that, start following these cool and very intelligent people. I used to use Twitter on occasion, but now have totally fallen in love with it. It’s the closest thing to the Matrix, when you decide to follow thousands of people. I only post my article’s normally once a day and never ever spam. Heck I don’t ask you to buy anything on this site, why would I spam people on Twitter?
I offer a bit of etiquette, that you can either follow or disregard:
- Don’t follow everyone all at the same time. Twitter may actually ban you if you follow more than 100 people at a time!
- Don’t follow people and then unfollow after they follow you. (Unless of course if you can’t stomach their comments)
- Don’t spam people with advertisements all day. An occasional word about your services is ok, but constant plugging will just get you unfollowed.
What To Expect Tomorrow
I have broken down the 1000 follower’s names into 10 Twitter Lists. Tomorrow, I’ll show you how to add 100 at a time to your account with one click. Then you will have one up on me. It’s been a lot of fun accomplishing this whole thing and I hope you like it. So on with the list of 1000 Best Follow Backer’s that will get you More Follower’s on Twitter!!! The “unfollow” rate on twitter is growing. Not quite as powerful as the “abandon rate” which is over 30% within a month! Twitter does have it’s plus points. It is a great ShoutBox to grab attention and hopefully introduce and move new followers to a more appropriate and perhaps personal level of contact. It worked well off @magillamax during the hellish fires of Feb’09 in the Yarra Valley to alert danger areas. It built a great first event for the Healesville Music Festival. and drives traffic to the Yarra Valley. It introduces locals to new venues and events and travelers to wineries and vineyards. Twitter has its moments. cheers
Having read your story on 1000 followers in one month. I had a similar “challenge” following the 3500 Toasted Head Facebook followers in 35 days. The company I work asked if it was possible, like you, with no Winery or storefront. No website support. No using email lists or database. From scratch! I took it on – and just missed with 3300 followers in 35 days. I have been asked recently to finally share this “how to” outside of the company. Interested?
